City Moment – Sadia Dehlvi’s Birthday Yoga, Nizamuddin East Moments by The Delhi Walla - June 17, 2015June 17, 20150 The remarkable Delhi instant. [Text and photos by Mayank Austen Soofi] One morning The Delhi Walla enters Sadia Dehlvi’s home in Nizamuddin East. An eminent writer, she is sitting barefoot on her drawing room floor. It is Ms Dehlvi’s 58th birthday but she is as silent as the grave. Her eyes are closed. Her back is straight. Her legs are crossed. The author of Sufism: The Heart of Islam is performing Yoga. Ms Dehlvi gradually opens her big eyes. She deftly folds and unfolds her limbs into a few more asans. Finally, she gets up, takes a deep breath, and lifts both her arms up from the sides. She then breathes out and brings her palms together in front of the chest. She is looking content. It is a beautiful moment. Now, stand on your head 1. 2. 3. 4.
